This place never ceases to amaze me. The ups and downs are like a roller coaster. It seams like the industry here is going through some growing pains of its own. Drill rigs are still active fracking is still going on. Rumors run rampant throughout though. I heard a rumor a few days ago that Nabors was shutting down 26 rigs and that Sanjel and Halliburton were ceasing all fracking supposedly because of an impending Obama executive order putting an end to fracking. There is nothing to substantiate it as of yet.
A year ago this was a great place for an owner operator to come and make a good living. Today it is being take over by the guy with the biggest bankroll. In trucking we are seeing SWIFT move in only a few trucks right now but one can imagine their plans. Companies like SWIFT will put the little guy out of business he wont be able to afford to compete. This is primarily in water right now but that will only be the beginning.
I believe the key will be to provide a better product than them. Be professional and companies may be able to salvage their business.
